Transcendental Sonnet #1006:
Secret Roses
These yellow roses immaterial
Which you found in your heart and sent to mine
These gelbe Rosen are ethereal
Not to be smelt but felt as the divine
Made manifest in petals without form
Which blossom too bright to be visible
Kissed not by sun but radiant with the warm
Love which we cherish indivisible
These yellow roses sent to me from you
Are secrets which our hearts alone can know
To treasure deep inside of us and so
I send my secret roses to you too
Remembering a rose I pressed and kept for years...
So dry so faded watered only by my tears...
