My Second Childhood



In my second childhood now I find
Myself trying to let go of the first
A lot of baggage to leave behind

Though I can never talk about the worst
Of the first the second is better
The first time for practice this time for real

Spelling it out letter by letter
Telling about being out of my mind
Seeing me progress obsessively

Going on somehow to be understood
After not knowing quite how to feel
I might as well accept that it feels good

My father was a poet too though
Also a hitman and crazy like me
A tough guy though I am not so tough

But they told me I was just like him so
I suppose I must be tough enough
For the rest my best my second childhood
