"It might be better to / Just be alone with you"

Poem Artwork

One Lone Wolf to Another

I like to be alone
Sometimes and to withdraw
From the enormity
Of a dystopic place
Past popularity
As from the populace
And freeze when others thaw
Into a world not known
To anyone but me
Into a place of grace
Where I can simply be
And the clock has no face
There where they are not free
To seize me by their law
Of forced conformity

Yet a life lived this way
Lived out of reach of touch
For day on day on day
Too little as too much
Might not quite satisfy
Without return to such
Familiarities
Of life as you and I
Have settled so to say
We scan with our fingers
Life written as in Braille
Where memory lingers
When other senses fail
And become memories
Of life then as we die

It might be better to
Just be alone with you

Great write as always Steve and the lone wolf theory is one that though partly true in regards to some of us being solitary and better adapted to being a part from the crowd but...I think we all need someone or someones to love and love us. Well done old friend.

I do not call myself a lone wolf but I do enjoy my life with no hurry, doing what I want, when I want and getting no aurgments, contraditions, back talk dictation and control. You can't make people love and appreciate you but you can love and appreciate yourself. You must make choices in life and now after 30 yrs of marriage and 25 yrs in my parents home with my siblings, i enjoy the aloneness. Some bushes grow only one flower

This is a wonderful poem. It is lovely to have human 'touch'...even for the lone wolves.

Indeed, Stevie; you may well be right. Thank you for sharing this offering. Your poem reminds me of one that I posted quite some time ago. It is entitled, "Yearnings." Love and peace to you, my friend.
