Poem Artwork

In one context we know ourselves, we are confident. We feel that we are an important puzzle piece in the world. We know we are loved, and that we are safe. That no evil ever may come our way. All the days that we live in this specific context turns into a rest during a cooling palm tree by the water in a beautiful oasis. In a different context we are insecure. We feel that we are of no use for anyone in our world. We know we are hated, and we don't feel safe anywhere. We know that all the evil in the world may come our way. All the days that we live in this specific context, turns into a fight under dark threatening clouds, among drifts of ash in smoking ruins. Life happens to all of us and there is nothing strange about it. We either feel safe that we can be open towards our outside world. Make sure we can accommodate the gifts we receive without shying back. Rest assured that we can trust the one we meet. That we can have faith without fear. Or we feel insecure. We dare not be open towards our outside world. We cannot accommodate the gifts we receive without shying away. We don't feel safe in that the one we meet can be trusted. We dare not have faith, we feel only fear. The context fluctuates with different stages of life. With birth and with death. With construction and destruction. We build each other up, or we destroy each other. Most often without even understanding what our actions entail.
