Out of sorts, blinded, bonkers
So many ways to say that a
person is not feeling well
That a person is going through
their own personal hell
Deep in darkness they'll be
spending their days as well
as their nights.
Living through their deepest
darkest frights
Then who is the complete
void of empathy or shame
that says that the person
in such a deep, deep pain,
can simply toughen up,
grow some character?
If it was that easy no one
would feel anxiety, pain,
or spending their nights
trying to sleep in vain.
with monsters behind their
eyelids, clawing out their
eyes seem the only way
to live through another day.
It's a frail existance where
dark feelings of guilt and
shame raise their ugly heads
over and over again.
As a helper you need to
thread with causion
to avoid casting blame.
Show empathy,
show understanding
and most of all
show care
show that
you will always
be there.
My physical condition, I believe has made me more empathetic towards others' problems. I had trouble, not sleeping, but in my sleep last night, thinking that all thousand poems or so that I have written were being opened, one at a time, as I was turned. Thinking I was still lying on all of them and it was very uncomfortable, thinking they all had to be removed and put in their proper place of my computer. It was a bizarre situation that may give me some insight into how mental thoughts and pain turn physical. What it must be like with severe trauma coming back again and again.
