Colliding Starry Skies

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

20 years ago burnt by dark flames, by the person next to me on the picture among others. released myself bit by bit through therapy. And feeling what a healthy relationship is when I met my current husband was the final piece of the puzzle..

Poem Artwork

Colliding stars,
Venus and Mars,
One to match the other
should be perfect for eachother

Cannot melt together
but wanted forever

Sparkle starry skies
explosive eternal fights

Standing on the frontline
vow to make you mine

Danger zone passed again and again
bid myself out, just say when

Such a dark fire, burning inside
those young years lived in strife

Wanted to punish myself for inplanted crimes
and so I sought my prison, Bell and Chime

The things I have done
I wish for no one

The things I have seen
placed myself in between

Ball and chain, knuckle and fist
the horrors I sought to persist

Only to find
that the crime
wasn't mine

Dear God what have I done to myself

Another kind of blame to place on me
when oh when, will I set myself free?

And then I found you and me
placed myself in ball and chain
but this time I am free

Finally released by me
under the loving hands of thee
I have finally grown wings to fly
soaring high above the sky

Opposites attract. So many marriages are made from fire and ice. The attraction is so strong that it can hurt. I'm lucky that I avoided it. And I understand you a bit from others I've known with abusive husbands.
