Journey of Life

Poem Artwork

Between heaven and hell,
between the stories we tell

Life is a journey through unchartered territory
inner compass to excavate and explore

Start out as a grain of sand,
nurtured so we can land
Bloom and grow vines,
tethered to our confines
Perceptions of the world,
the stories we've heard
Become our moral code,
our inner temples' abode

Venture further in life,
it's joys and strifes
Pressurized and sealed,
through it revealed
The young adult set sail,
through perils prevail
Loves' lost and found,
building our compund
Meetings and greetings,
moments pass fleeting
As we make our fate,
from our hearts palate

Now and then as we go,
curse our fates that made us so
Starry eyed and naive,
that our hearts deceive
our wisdom of mind,
when we choose our kind
We set ourselfs up to fall,
thinking our destiny calls

And so we make our own prison
and within hide our prism
Thinking we are at last in peace,
we will never again release
our true and blue disease
Our soul percieved as foe,
as the nature of our woes

Unable as we are to see,
it's the mining of you and me
The excavation of the gold within,
through pressure we begin
Develop our inner core,
to set journey on a distant shore
Where we can at last be
happy and free

Very good! I can see the life review from birth to death, but also as a metaphor for our inner journey. "The young adult set sail," brings such hope, which we experience when first embarking on our journeys. Wonderful!

The image of life as a journey a profound one that is beautifully and intimately handled in this insightful poem. Well done.

A wonderful description of life with it's ups and downs and stops and starts. The older I get the truth is I find it easier to accept the low points for I appreciate more the wins.
