Passing along some thoughts

Poem Artwork

I sat on satire’s wing today

As we flew the full course

Viewing things as they are

Instead of how they might be

For satire’s myopic eye

While deliberate in principle

Requires perspective

For at great distance

The haze of reality

Is quietly consumed

By circumstance

Whose translation is mired

In the primordial goo

Of media’s swamplands

Requiring delicate extraction

To preserve the tainted texture

While stripping to the bone

The truth

I sat on satire’s wing today

As we flew the full course

In search of opportunity

But today the levies were dry

You beat me to this one! I love Satire and love to fly on her wings. You are very good at getting at the root of the matter and rooting it out with your nose. Here, you are flying above the fray and describing the source of your satirical muse. Bravo!

Patrick this is especially wonderful in so many aspects
deeply reaching with wisdom & the inner visors of wisdom
an elite view & an beautifully expressed perception!

Patrick, I knew you'd been sitting somewhere near it. It's been dripping off you for days, weeks even. Maybe even months. But, I think you're pretty good at that "stripping it to the bone" business and even when the levies are dry, the satire still drips off from you.

Must be the luck of the draw, I guess. Keep em coming.

Thanks Dick

So I gotta "go" alot more than most...better that than being almost dead like a couple of years ago...don't listen to Sir pee-wee with the small wee wee, he knows so little its hardly worth mentioning his name...Ed

Do not fear, Cuz, all sorts of things will soon begin to flow when TomKat and the Jersey Devil get there. Better keep some mops and buckets handy, too, for all their primordial goo overflow!

Your thoughts on satire requiring "great perspective seem to me to be right on. How many of us havbe seen a good satire spoiled by some idiot who chooses to tke it literally?
