Where does it start A tiny compromise Nobody’s perfect after all How is it possible For sweetness to degrade To savagery God help us Your demons have taken their toll Consumed our possibilities Crushed our hearts It’s not your fault Reeds bend in the wind We bent too Now we are broken What remains is guilt In a field of broken reeds Saturated with grief Wondering Could we have bent Just a little more Copyright 2014 Patrick A Granfors

Very profoundly philosophical. Not your usual humorous or natural poem. But the dog gives me a clue. I have noticed how a perfectly calm and friendly dog will suddenly turn vicious and do great harm to innocent things like other animals and children. I think you're trying to alert us to the fact that we have a tendency to "fly off the handle" to easily when we could have just let the problem evaporate in time.
