No city lights mean stars to see. This makes me smile. Photo: Really crappy photo of the deer

Mother doe with two in tow Wanders across my lawn Destined for their resting spot Where they’ll stay until the dawn The evening air is soft and thick Woods cry out for a breeze Fireflies twinkling in secret code Offering messages in the trees A tiny sliver of a brand new moon Appears in the western skies With Venus right beside her Steering moonlight to my eyes Distant flashes of lightning A hundred miles away Validates the forecast Storm clouds are on the way For now the sky is clear and bright With countless stars to see Against the ebony backdrop Ozark evenings are for me Copyright 2010 Patrick A Granfors
