Oh sadness you had me totally captivated...
I asked myself from whence cometh this
sudden change of demeanor
I did not  invite you, somehow
you forced yourself in the door!
                

                   since
        you were not invited
    I had to ask you to leave
   Upon your swift departure
             

                  My attention

        Turned to thankfullness
             Now you may ask
Why such a quick change of heart?
The answers are quite simple you see!

I took one look at my husband...
I took one look at my beautiful house...
I took one look at my healthy robust children...
                             

                            Then
I opened the food filled pantry and marvelled...
                              

                            Then
I turned on the  TV, and much to my dismay
watched in horror as the news anchor
broke the news about  the  drowned victims.

                                Who...
tried to escape to a better life

       
                        So you see...

Why I had such a sudden change in attitude!
                            

                        So you see...

 Why I had to reign in my thankfulness
                            

                          So you see...

Why I had no time to wallow in selfishness
                            

                           Because...

It was time for me to pray for my native people.
                           

                           Because...

It was time for me to get on my knees to give praise to the one true God for all the abundant blessings he has bestowed upon me.
