We live in a world that is time obsessed, rolling news on the hour, timetables, taking medication, work, school, you name it, time is the undercurrent, not a friend.

Poem Artwork

Like a pulse in your head

it raps away

gotta be here or there

must be on my way,

must not be late

why so much traffic

aw give a chance

give me a break.

Over and over

the rapping goes on

a clock ticking away

like a time bomb,

no one can escape

like we are all trapped

in a matrix web

time ticks away till tour dead.

I have no alarm clock

nothing on my wrist

I get up the same

as do the rest,

I'm seldom missing

when I should be somewhere

what difference does it make

take it easy I'll get there.

Yet within me that rapping

still natters on

a mirror reflects

what that dam time has done.

A mathmatical nonsense

derived from where we live

on a different planet

maybe a longer day more give,

even boil an egg

you have to rap away

tick tock hard boiled

sunnyside up you say.

Even the Bible

gives an edict on time

three scores years and ten

then farewell goodbye,

but having said that

it does have a rider

he that does the will of God

remains forever.

Maybe I have found it

the end of this rapping

more a love affair with good time

living forever never dying,

this pain in our heads

this time obsessed

was never intended

maybe we can put it to rest.

I like the idea of a love affair with good time, love your effectual poem, it says so much about time it's real meaning and the way we squander it on things that don't matter, thank you for sharing, have a great day John, xo
