From the Wing of a Golden Eagle…a Glistening Feather floated down to us. John Robert Lewis The Representative for the State of Georgia for over 30 years…has passed on. A young Protégé of Martin Luther King he carried the torch of Love refusing to Hate even though he in his lifetime paid a price for it. In the Battle of Equality for All …he Dedicated his entire adult life to the service to which he was obviously called. It is a Bittersweet Adieu that we render for, of course, Georgia will miss the Valor and Strength of our Faithful Representative never forgetting the milestones his efforts achieved for us. However, we are so thankful for the ‘Gift’ of having him, and yet we are reminded… he was only loaned to us and came…not to stay.

A Golden Eagle's Feather... floated ...

just passing…on its way

Enroute to a better place…

it touched us, but…not to stay

Called and used by …I AM…

to open shut and barred doors

He tore down racist obstacles

enduring the brute and sore

His courage and wisdom

that were displayed and shared

Will encourage the multitudes…

today…tomorrow and thru the years

But now that Fine Golden Feather

is…free at last… and passed on

And there's no doubt in any acquainted

he's basking reward of Eternal Dawn

Thus, for those who have been Blessed

to benefit from his Valiant Ray…

We Thank God for John Robert Lewis

who tarried here, but…not to stay

Isaiah 6:8

A fine tribute, Joyce. I constantly pray for all people to be united in spirit regardless of race, religion, political beliefs, etc. Love, peace, and blessings to you,

No one stays, but it's what they leave behind that matters. I don't recall knowing him before the movie, Selma, even though I lived in Atlanta for three years. But recently, I received emails from his campaign and listen to his rhetoric in the recent impeachment hearings ring out against injustice.

Uncle Robert will continue to be known by more than just his nieces and nephews when in the near future what he fought so hard for will come to fruition.

He was one of the greats, a rare bird indeed who will be sorely missed. A voice of wisdom and calm. A fine tribute you presented here. Lovely.
