How? What do we do? What do we say? Where, or how do we begin? One might look for specific directions when deciding to follow Jesus, but for everyone it is personal, thus different. There is no map, however, this I can tell you…always, always…

It begins…

at the Cross.

That’s where we unload

the weight of…dross.

There, we meet the Son

who melts…our frost

freeing us from icy bond

of errs…and lost.

There, in the spread

of His Redeeming Moss,

by faith, we’re cleansed…

in Lamb’s Blood embossed.

There, with a kiss upon pierced feet

we nestle Jesus All…His Love’s Cost.

It begins… 

at the Cross.

I see no need to focus on suffering. Our focus should be on ending suffering for everyone. One way we can do is by focusing on the cause, in this case, fearful King Herod, thinking he would get away with crucifying a young rabble-rouser.

Such a beautiful, heaven-sent poem, Joyce. At the cross is the place we find salvation, bought for us with His precious blood. "A kiss upon His pierced feet" is such s picture of heart surrender! Amen.
