The odor heightens my senses
Especially stimulating that of smell
It’s something remotely familiar
But right now it’s hard to tell
Now don’t get me wrong – it is a fragrance
But not one manufactured, at least not man made
Not fabricated by some designer
No, this is of a much higher grade
It’s the smell of a hard working man
Yet, not stained with sweat
It’s the smell of an intellectual man
Knowing how to work beyond regret
It’s the smell of a God fearing man
Who knows how his life should be governed
It’s the smell of a compromising man
Who finds no joy in being stubborn
It’s the smell of a responsible man
Who knows how to take care of his home
It’s the smell of a humble man
Acknowledging when he’s wrong
It’s the smell of a compassionate man
Who takes care of his children and yours
It’s the smell of a focused man
Who finds ways to open shut doors
It’s the smell of a faithful man
Who really knows how to be true
I remember now
I first smell it on my father
