"Sayonara Piggly Wiggly" is a song about conformity I wrote while I was still a Christian.
(A Christian non-conformist wasn't quite as unusual back then.)
It was intended to be part of a suite entitled "Glimpses From The Moon" which included
four movements of "Pale Dead Moon". Here is the first movement:
(The other three movements were even worse.)
Pale Dead Moon
Pale dead moon is crying out,
How long must I turn about
A world that's blue and green and blue?
So many hearts and so few true.
So many minds. So little thought.
Humanity is all for naught.
They never find the time to care
For what is right and what is fair.
There's no concern for fellow man.
There's no desire to understand
The reasons for the things they do.
Their selfish motives would show through.
They thoughtlessly devour their time
And never recognize the crime.
They never wonder why they're here.
They just exist and disappear.
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
