I am planning to participate in the "No Kings 2.0" protests on October 18th,
but I've been feeling pretty pessimistic lately.
Since Donald Trump's return to power I have become more and more depressed.
It appears to me that evil has won. The America I knew and loved is gone.
The self-righteous simpletons who believe the lies are so numerous, so obtuse, and so ruthless.
I doubt that we shall ever recover from the dumbing down of America.
The purpose of my poem is to point out the hypocrisy of MAGA cultists who claim to be Christian.
It is my fervent hope that some of them might still have a shred of decency in them,
and that this poem might serve to wake them up.
It was inspired by the realization that my so-called Christian siblings are a lost cause,
and by a recent horrific event that occurred in Chicago.
I have no problem with people I consider to be True Christians,
people who are actually Christ-like and care about what happens to other people.
In fact, I find it refreshing when I happen to come across one.
I disagree with what they believe, but I respect their decency.
One cannot be truly Christ-like without being decent.

We disagree on many things, but we all agree on these things:

administration is doing to America.

are not upset about the horrible things happening in America right now,
is they are simply not aware that they are happening. This is because
Donald Trump, following Adolf Hitler's playbook, has convinced his minions
that everything the mainstream news sources say is "fake news". (Hitler
referred to all non-Nazi news sources as the "Lügenpresse"/"lying press".)
And so they only believe what their Religious Right, Christian Nationalist
leaders and news sources tell them is true.
I think it is also important to understand why president Trump and his staff
keep telling one obvious lie after another, despite the fact that most people
easily recognize that they are lies. They do this for the sake of the people
who believe what they say, to maintain their base by continuing to fool
those who are already fooled. If they can keep the base that keeps them
in power, it doesn't matter to them if everyone else sees through their lies.
While He's stickin' a knife in their backs,
He's tellin' 'em that the Democrats are doin' it,
and they believe Him.
