"A Bit Of Desert Nostalgia"

The night air was arid

And hot

Sweat beaded on his forehead

His eyes were closed

As he soaked in the melodies

He created within

A masterful musical mind.

 

Words the woman

Sitting near by

Requested to hear

To sooth

The arid desert lonely night.

 

Words of his song

Spilled into the night air

From his lips

As smooth as a velvet

Rose petal.

 

Words

Only she wanted to hear

For they’ve been echoing

In her thoughts all day long

Since she heard the name

“Rick”.

 

Please play it for me Sam

Words that were rekindling

A Romance of old

“A kiss is just a kiss

A sigh is just a sigh”

Oh how he just wanted

To forget that song

As Time Goes By.

Ahhh...a masterful movie and a hautingly beautiful song. You've captured the essence of both movie and song in your poem, William. "You know what I want to hear, Sam." Do I hear a sing-along about to happen? Surely most all people know the words...
