“Puppy Love” It was a warm summer day Back in the mid fifties A time of innocence I saw her for the first time She was ten I was twelve She asked my name I asked why She and a friend giggled Called me a silly goose. I told her my name She told me hers She was ten I was twelve When she stole my heart. That night I couldn’t sleep Days after We said nothing to each other Just exchange love notes With kissing figures drawn Wrote you and I And I love you Forbidden words we didn’t say. We play tag one day I was “it” Cornered her in a doorway On that playful day I tag her Told her, she was “it.” We looked Into each others eyes Curiously Hers were brown so were mine I kissed her while my heart Was skipping a beat And strutted away She was ten I was twelve. I adore puppy love (and puppies), I adore my twin sister, and I adore YOU, William. Too cute!! I was hmmm. 16. He was 18. Uglier than a mud fence, most thought, but he treated me with dignity and respect. I thought he was just fine. =] Well done.
