Youth arrested for possession of one pill

Poem Artwork

The Domino effect
~~~~~*~~~~~
He stood erect
Tall and proud
"The Domino"
Stumbling forward
Crashing through barriers
Of self destruction
Descending like a snowball
heading towards Hell.
Alone he finds himself
looking out from within
through the crossbar window
Of a cell
At the full moon
His only companion
On a clear cold
Winter’s night in purgatory.
He played all his aces
With nothing up his sleeves
The forlorn soul
Cries away his misery
In silence.
As a tear rolls
From the corner
Of hidden loneliness
Into the infinity Of time
The injustice Of it all
“A pill“.
Ruined lives with those pills, if they only could think it through and get a life, and be living instead of just existing.
SAD...SO SAD. I PRAY ITS HIS LAST TIME, EVER. I DON'T WANT HIM TO CRY BUT BETTER THAT HE CRIES NOW, THAN LATER. 'CAUSE, EVEN IF YOUR NOT GUILTY AND YOU'VE ALREADY PAID, WITH A BAD PAST, THE 'JUSTICE SYSTEM'...JUST 'NEVER' FORGETS. THANKS FOR THE SHARE, BILL. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
I have seen "much worst" crimes go unpunished and something as little as this they throw the book at and to me that is not justice. Very good write.
sometimes punishment does not fit the "crime" well penned and thought provoking poem.
"Of hidden loneliness"......It's too bad that so many people hide their lonliness and try to fill that "hole" with substances, food, shopping, gambling, etc.. So sad that he suffered in silence. This is a fine poem which brings about conscious awareness.
Love ya!
It could be, "a bitter pill to swallow."
I think you meant, "in" silence.
To me your last line says he can take a pill and die & be done with human coil onto and out of that cell called life...I may be wrong, but still I like this one, Bill, over and above your romantic writes...-e- (sorry, guess I am not a romanticist)
Didn't "get" that last line, but this seems to be a case worthy of that old adage, Karma kicking ass.
