Very nice and "lonesome" poetry this Fourth of July, I wish happiness for you and you pretty, lonesome dove.

The Lonesome Dove truly can be a very sad creature. I had a pair of mourning doves who visited my bird feeder everyday, and one of them recently died. Since they mate for life, the survivor now is truly forlorn.

I can feel the lonliness and hope in this one, and as a comparison to human longings the doves do truly share so much. I can sense the tenderness of your fluttering heart inside your breast as fragile as the doves.

Susan this is so hauntingly lovely. I had a ring necked dove for a couple of years from the time it was a baby, but I had to finally give it to a guy who had an aviary, because it wanted a mate and drove me crazy thinking I was its mate. But before it got to that point it was such a joy. I had such fun with it and amazed at how clever they are.But the cooing got to be non stop because it wanted to mate.It got to be sad so I had to give it up.I had a picture of him on a poem I did a long time ago. Thanks for the memory!;-)
