When a person creates a wall then challenges you to cross it...what's the point when actual love walks through it?

This is an oldie and I'm reposting it since my Muse took off.

Poem Artwork

The hardest wall I've ever climbed is the one I could not see
Built there by the King of Hearts who loves unconditionally
But all the same in Love's own game it's when the wall keeps blocking
The very path to bring it down but alas! It keeps on mocking
This pain is real and makes me look upon all the crude hard doubt
Of love that comes and builds this wall then puts it's own love out.
For love can hold on for a lifetime and never let you go
But when you hide behind a wall then you really ...never know
The beauty of a fuller heart is when it never yearns
It doesn't recognize the pain until it starts to burn
Freedom gives us every breath we take unconsciously
Once the Wall has had it's way...it's more conditionally
Then with the wall it hides away and dies with every beat
Of a rhythm made... one of a kind... for you... in its defeat!

Love never letting us go... do we want to be let go? Interesting this one. Walls--advantages and disadvantages I'd say. Thanks for sharing

"Love doesn't abuse" such a true and beautiful statement, One it took me a long time to fully understand myself. True and unconditional love cannot harbor abuse on either side, for there is no room.

This was a wall that ended a two yesr relationship. I think we all get tp the point where we become angry within ourselves for "Taking it" for so long. I woke up one morning after a night of abuse. I said to myself, in my sleep, "This is final". I asked God for strength and called in to work. to get a day off. I started packing when Rafael went to work. I got as much crammed into my Expedition as possible and moved to Macon. With strong support from friends there they reminded me that love doersn't abuse. I am so happy today. In regressing over old poetry I found this. I found another that will surely make others cry. I'm not sure I can post that. The whole beauty here is recovery and what strength an individual can muster when they're fed up.

Love and peace to you all.

...perhaps sand blocks...create the rhythm of the wall...and in taking notes...up a step...the heart...in time...gets over it.
excellent Susan...

You have great depth of insight about love matters sis! This is one fine example of it and a sad fact of life for many who have to climb walls as well as those who hide behind them...

So sad, but so true about walls and what they finally tell us when we get tired of butting against it. Excellent write. Liz

The reference to "the hardest wall I've ever climbed is the one I could not see," is a testament for so many of us. I think at one point or another, we've all been there. I'm dealing with this issue, at the present, finally having awakened to reality and questioning why I hadn't sooner.

Beautiful work, Susan, and I agree with Amber, you could not have re-posted this poem in a more timely manner to the issues I am facing, right now.

Thanks,
Jill

Susan,
This is a really timely poem to read for me. I have a wall up, a very thing one at that, but protection from pain of losing a love..I must work at breaking it down, even though it is very thin, it is still there however. Your poem makes me realize that I need to break through that wall in order to find my soul mate person...
Much peace, love, and light, and perhaps your muse and my muse are on vacation with each other..I guess my cold is affecting my writing..lol

Hiding behind walls, looking for (the illusion of) security... I prefer what you tell the reader about "the beauty of a fuller heart" and freedom. Maybe source of inspiration for poems yet to be written!?

Wonderful write, I believe walls are ok, as long as you leave room for the doors and windows. that makes it a castle. Lady J

Very beautiful and old or not it expresses so well what so many lovers have faced when it comes to reaching out and touching the heart of someone they desire. So many walls can be put up to interfere...age wall, time wall, legal wall, distance wall, family wall and even just a wall of fear of getting hurt but...
if it is a real love and you know there is love for you on the other side, there are ladders to tackle each one. Grreat pome dear Susan.

Praise yourself not to have impenetrably black-walls surrounding you.
Then again...love can burrow under them.
A sad one.
