This may not be so much of a poem as my own personal tribute and ramblings on this anniversary of the day I had to decide to let one of my dearest little friends in all the world move on....

Poem Artwork

He would wait,
Lying there on the back of the couch,
Watching out the double windows,
Waiting for me to come home.
I would see him there and he spy me,
And even before the car had completely stopped,
He would be up, tail wagging so hard he shook all over.
Before I was out the car door he was down,
And as I came through my front door he would dance all around.
Oh, sure, there was this thing about food and "out".
But there was more as he put his front paws on my leg,
Stretching his "Hello" up to me.
You cannot buy friends like that (or can you?)
Never find them just quite so true .
And when time and worn heart took him down,
So hard to make the call.
And now he is no longer around,
Been a year this fall.
All those memories, as with all loved ones,
Sometimes bring a smile,
Other times a tear,
And yet I am much convinced,
That part of him's still near.
May he find peaceful places and loving hearts,
May he never be cold or hungry or alone,
May he be there when the veiled mist parts,
And I am coming home.

What a wonderful tribute!!! Makes you choke up. Especially those of us who are best friends with our pets. Losing one is very nearly
unbearable. When my husband and I lost our little Rosie, we were so heartbroken, we didn't think we would let another bundle-of-affection-and-plsyfulness into our lives. But we have. It is the way Rosie would have wanted it!! When your grief subsides a bit, take a chance on letting another
cat into your life {if you haven't already}. There is no better therapy that I know of, and there are so many animals in need of
warm and loving care such as you have to give. Luv 'n' Hugs, 'Pea' <3

I am so sorry James. It is heartbreaking to make such a decision even if you know it is the kindest thing to do. This is a beautiful tribute to your beloved pet.

Oh James, this is so beautiful, heartfelt, it bought a tear to my eye.
Marvelously writen presentation, delivery, and execution.
Most of all your love for your dearest pet. Ah, get another who looks
like this one, you know often times when you have one you love so much it seems (the new one) takes on the lovin' spirit of the previous one. Have you ever noticed? I wish I could get if for you.....one just like the one in the window!!

Peace and love, and keep your good friends memory ablazin'
Sincerely,
From the Heart of an Artist Quiet Storm
