STARTING OVER (revisited)
For several years I vacillated,
not wanting to take the chance.
Unwilling to expose my emotions
to yet another wasted romance.
We were no longer together.
For that, we shared the blame.
Hadn’t spoken to her in months,
there was no flicker to that old flame.
We couldn’t make each other happy,
neither of us willing to bend.
So, rather than punish ourselves,
we just let the damn thing end.
Then, I met her on the internet,
stumbled into her online,
it was all a great big accident
but she’s been a magnificent find.
We started really slow,
chatted a month before we actually met,
but now I’m more in love with her
than I thought ever again I’d get.
We do everything together,
even things I’d never tried.
I can’t envision life without her,
she’salways by my side.
Oh, it’s not like we do all that much,
but always it’s more pleasant,
when we forget about the past
and simply enjoy the present.
Almost everywhere we go
we nearly always go together,
even during the troubled times
when we’ve storms that we must weather.
Our lives feel more fulfilled,
we’re enjoying our “Golden Years.”
Just the fact we found each other
has calmed most all our fears.
Unwilling to expose my emotions
to yet another wasted romance,
for several years I had vacillated,
but I’m so glad I took a chance.
