Many times I've changed shoes,
but still end up paying the same old dues.
Of course too me this isn't news,
and it no longer gives me the blues.
At my age I should be paid in full,
but life never quits dealing the bull.
We trade one set of problems young,
get old a new set arrives among.
Juvenile problems eventually we solve,
then more mature ones evolve.
Things just come out of the dark,
after we lose that youthful spark.
Most young people take life for granted,
until their walk becomes a little slanted.
When legs are young and strong,
it's easy to dance all night long.
When the brain is sharp as a tack,
it's easy to keep life on track.
Can't go back to younger shoes,
got to stay and pay these older dues.
Life has a young and old curse,
I don't know which one is worse,
being young and not so sure,
or older needing a medical cure.

I don't know why this poem takes me back there, perhaps because I figure that you are one of those that not let the walk over, but that at the end would do the walk himself.
Great write!!!
