This was inspired by my Indian upbringing.. We were taught that angels and demons walk between this life and the afterlife. and that we had the ability to see both.

Happy Halloween!!
She is in the
darkness.
A child reaching
for light.
Her soul to young
to pray..
To young
to say..
Babies afraid
of the dark.
She doesn't need much..
Just a pinhole
of a spark.
A distant star
in the galaxy...
Just enough light
to keep
the demons away
They lurk in the
darkest shadows..
Waiting..
To take her back.
Back to the hell
from whence she came.
She was not meant
to be born.
So they wait
in prey..
Waiting for the
stars to fade..
These demons
are apart of her..
She apart of them.
They are siblings
from another life..
Of
Emptiness..
Darkness..
Emotionalist
Nothingness
They do not know of..
love
life
hurt
shame
They know nothing
of these earthly gains..
For there is
Heavenly light
Even in pain.
Every emotion sparks
something unseen..
Ahh, but these demons
will not let her be..
The star is fading..
The darkness comes..
She knows she is
not alone..
She feels their demonic
urgency growing.
As they wait
to take her home.
She knows it is useless
to fight.
Because darkness
will always
overcome the light.

Had to read it about three times. Some very enthralling imagery
and metaphors. We all have our own demons; demons we must fight,
and yet demons to which we must sometimes surrender. And... demons
aren't always all bad. :) Nice picture to go along with the poem.
I'm also part Native American (part Cherokee).

Great dive into the dark thoughts. ....sorry I just have to say it....Light does and always will overcome darkness.
