A Day in the Breaking

Opening the window
A day in the breaking
Surrounded by nature
The skylight flaming

A ripening sun, a
Light of paradise
The dew on grass
Heavens scent

Trees asleep, willows
Weep in winnowing winds
Thrilled birds trill upon
A branch in sway

Clack-arty clack of a distant train
Vapour trail in the sky
Car engine turns again
Modernity’s Shangri-La

The Moon’s adieu
Upon this morn, children’s
Laugher in scuffling pleasure
Horse chestnuts a ritual treasure

I like how this poem activates the sense of sound and touch (open window and winnowing winds) and smell (of car engines) and taste! = (just the word "ripening," even though it is the sun, we are thinking of fruit. No wonder your readers are pleasured by this writing. So am I... ~~ Diana
