when the sun rises
and you drop your feet
into your boots faster than
the clock turns its hands
so you can run out the door
and head to work
no matter what the day
no matter the weather
no matter anything
to fight your way into life’s
lifeless tasks, commonly known as work
thinking that is the only thing that matters
and then the Earth flies along the Sun’s azimuth
where it shines brightly to let in the light
into a warm and loving heart
filled with sweetness and smiles
until it sets deep within your exhaustion
and you go on through the night
reading manuals
making drawings
creating your craft
until you tear your clothes from your flesh
and your head drops onto the pillow
where you completely forget
my breast is here
waiting impatiently now
for the day when you will awake
into the real and the knowing
that work is half of a necessity
whereas love is all
Yes, very poignant vision or characteristic capture of modern life. Running after every penny like a wounded deer, we have no time to enjoy the deeper values of life. But is there any choice??? Great write as always, Sarah. Love and hope for you, Franz.
I totally agree that love IS all, but love doesn't pay the bills (maybe lust does, but that's another topic)so we must go through that drudgery. Unless we have a job that we realy like. Still, the rewards of love make the drudgery of work bearable. Good poetry.
The divison of time between work and love is immeasurable, but your words make a very good case. I commend you for writing and posting these words. This is a dillema in wich most marrieds find themselves within the early years, at least. And, it is difficult for the Princess to convince herself that she didn't really marry the Prince, but the Kins's demand for work, products and services.
It takes too many years for brides to understand that huband's income is vital for the survival of both work and love.
A most stimulating and revealing piece of work. Congrats. - Bill
