Purposely, she set out to create them
Intentionally, she set out to love them
With a lot to learn she did proceed
It was never a matter of want vs. need
She knew what she sought, there was never a doubt in her mind
They say a sacrifice is a giving up
Of some great thing for the sake of
Obtaining something of greater value still
She never had the desire until
She met him and then she knew she had fallen in love
Designed to be used up or destroyed
She let them be her life never once annoyed
At the thought that her purpose had changed
How tragic if she had stayed the same
And never knew what it felt like, the filling of the void
She doesn't see it the way people say it
It doesn't feel like a sacrifice one bit
It feels like something she doesn't deserve
It feels like a value that needs to be preserved
Pushing onward and never considering letting herself quit
Not always easy but then again what is?
There's days filled with struggles, hers vs. his
Breathe in and breathe out then repeat it again
Don't focus your energy on where you've been
Look ahead to where you're going and enjoy what it gives
No greater purpose a woman has held
In her arms her babies, a vision to tell
Completely dependent on her love they are
If she's good, she'll help them reach for a star
If she's better, for them and with her it will go well

My mother was poised to go to college, when at 17 she was faced with twins coming. From that point onward she sacrificed everything to make sure that I and my four other siblings had a comfortable, but not sheltered, existence so that we could come out strong and face the world better than she did. Now we are taking care of her as best we can for what she sacrificed for us.
