GRIEF
Grief is a lonely road
we travel in a daze,
not quite understanding
why we’re in this place.
Friends want to help
but they can’t understand
how this incredible pain
carries us to an unknown land.
Grief is a lonely road.
We travel it all alone.
We’re lost and so bewildered
not wanting to go home.
Family gathers round,
sorrow in their hearts.
They bring small comfort
as they try to do their part.
Grief is a lonely road.
We travel night and day.
It always stays with us,
as we attempt to find our way.
Loved ones bring hugs,
wanting to see us smile.
Someday, perhaps we will,
but not for quite a while.
Grief is a lonely road,
seeming to never end.
But one day there will be a light
just around the next bend.

Grief most definitely is a lonely road, but good friends help to lessen the burden.
Thank you for always being there. Dick
