it’s the least you can do.
Bring fragrant blooms,
if you please,
to cover the stench
of mendacity.
Will you brush my hair tonight?
One hundred stokes
for penance
as you perfect unworthiness
with your eyes
down-cast and dewy.
Will you kiss me gently
with dishonest lips,
lay your head upon my breast
and time your breathing
until our hearts beat together
as if coupled?
You are no stranger
to my rhythm.
Will you do all these things
while I apply my own deception
and pretend
to forgive you?

It appears here that even in something as sensual as a brushing of hair ... Horatio has fallen from grace. Janus is not through yet. I would brush for my love, her beautiful read hair night after night, but my reward dear Patricia would be Paradise. Oh to be close to extract the reward. My love is neither vengeful nor deceitful. In her case, her beautiful red hair will be so luxurios after a couple of centuries of my brushing. For to be her slave and do her bidding is my only goal. Such an interesting movitated write from an excellent poet and a Lady of much class. Bill

Reminds me of Janis Ian for some reason/ probably that my head is still hurting from the pounding of my own various forms of intoxication, having been self medicated.
