Poem Artwork

Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
not a creature was stirring
cept for the sound
of an inane whirring

Little Johnny as usual
had not put away his toys
just a typical lad
like all little boys

It rolled through the house
pulsing and beeping
whirring away
whilst everyone was sleeping

The Mice thought it odd
as they scampered around
to see if this creature
had come from underground

They determined it safe
then commenced with a game
calling their friends
who with curiosity came

Rolling it forward
squeaking with delight
rolling it backwards
did they through the night

This they kept up
till the morning light
their little eyes bleary
as sunbeams were so bright

Little Johnny awoke
it was Christmas morning
he jumped out of bed
blissfully yawning

His priorities clear
made he for the door
not noticing the fact
that toy gone from his floor

He entered the bathroom
to wash sleep from his eyes
what came next
was a hell of a surprize!

As he walked happily
down the long hallway
that lead to the door
of the homes main stairway

He upended himself
flat to the boards
with a ball neath his back
rolling him towards

the stairwell," oh no"
down he went
yelping and screeching
like his life was all spent

Hurtling down till he hit the bottom
kept on rolling, the tree closing in
till his feet hit the trunk
down she came with an almighty Din!

Little Johnny grew up
as all small boys do
went off to college
the years quickly flew

he never forgot that terrible day
how he'd spent it in traction
both legs badly broken
though in his mind was borne a plan of action

So if by chance
in big department stores
with your small children you venture
right by those big doors

You see a slide
and a room full of balls
children laughing
taking tumbles and falls

A place you can leave them
while you merrily shop
think who invented the concept
who sits at the top

Of the Walmart and Kmart
board of directors
laughing at you spending
on widgets, gadgets,

For his money detectors!

So come Christmas time
when you think to spend big
remember mice
do the biggest jiggety JIG.

Do yourself a favour and get a Big Cat!!

Cute...I look at it this way, my mom dragged me along when she went shopping, it is the least I can do for the next generation...no kid space rooms for the children with me, I am going to walk them around so that when we get home they will be as tired as I am.
Take care,
Sherry

Commerce will do all it can to relieve folk of their hard-earned cash. Thing is, we don't have to fall for that trick, 'cause Christmas isn't about spending heaps on useless things...Christmas is about Jesus...not us.
You have penned an eye-opener here, Ch'erie, and timely too. Well done!

God Bless
Love, Lena

What an incredible story Ch'erie.

It evoked all kinds of emotion in me. Anger, laughter, indignance. This was a real goodun.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours ...

Too funny Cherry Pie, reminds me of the time the tree fell over on top of me after trimming it with a few bottles of wine and thinking we had done a good job...wrong.
