An Ordinary Man??
By Ch'erie
Look into his eyes forget the rest
like his crowing glory
skin sun blessed
A noble brow
with a poignant nose
sweet aroma like that of a Rose
He walked among us
purpose bound
was not the plan to stick around
He had a cup
which was avowed to drink
No easy task, don't you think?
Just imagine
if his looks had been
something unlike man had ever seen
Women swooning
reason lost
think about it, count the cost
BUT, within those eyes
raged a storm
though his face was much the norm
not one of terror
amid stricken souls
peace & compassion filled their bowls
Focus on those dove like eyes
tell me if they endear your heart
or from his presence you can depart
not a quick glance
take it in
do you see a trace of sin?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked and I saw the sin
but it was my own within
for a while HE was hard to see
through my shame and misery
I kept on looking
till I could see
my fathers eyes
looking back at me.
Now close your eyes
and imagine this
his are black and blue
from angry fists
His back is torn
to utter shreds
unrecognizable
through tears he sheds...
Upon the tree
of Golgotha's slain
led to the slaughter
and there was lain
hoisted tween heaven n earth
wracked in pain
he did never deserve
and when they looked
into his eyes
they all got a big surprize
for nary was a spot of hate
only LOVE was there
despite HIS fate...
So tell me please
if you can see
just an Ordinary Man
looking back at thee?
