Caress The Inclination

Poem Artwork

A good inclination is but the first rude draught of virtue, but the
finishing strokes are from the will, which, if well disposed, will by
degrees perfect it, as if all disposed will quickly deface it....Unknown

~~~CARESS THE INCLINATION~~~
I've an appetite for fancy, and I'm so inclined to dream
I get lost in the abstractions, thru a maze of endless themes
I have visions of desires, I keep snuggled deep within
Rested  dreams of temporal visions, where my hunger does begin
I'm delirious by reasons, I leave open to my view
By the melody of wind songs...I hear whispers old and new
From the logical and formal, to the stately and refined
I would venture past the borders, linked and fenced about my mind
How I cherish these distractions, I've sequestered in my nest
For they've healed the hurt and calmed...this tempest in my breast
By thought of sweet amusements, that beguile by design
I caress this inclination......and I sigh.... with peace........ of mind
Ahhhhhhhhh
Lady A
Easily I am captured, caught in image, just on the edge of the dream, words paint a picture perfect and a song sweet. Great write.. Walt
Really enjoyed this piece! The meter and flow were dead on and just moved the whole write wonderfully to the ending. Reads very well aloud!
Ahhhhhh so delightful! You have captured what is for most of us here, the reason why we write: we 'caress the inclination' brought about by our musings and visions and dreams and endless themes.
So many 'supress' their inclinations, they are imprisoned within their own minds. We should always remember to rejoice at our 'freeness of speech'
WOW!! So subtley gentle and persuasive but absolute DYNAMITE!! Especially that last stanza.. in fact, the last two lines say it all for me.. not only sighs, but smiles I find... the story of my life at the moment! Mm-mm playful as a kitten patting at butterflies... delightful, Anita, thank you. Kate xx
Lady a, your inner garden is vast and has a world of sweet succulent fruit waiting to be picked and eaten. You never need to come to your garden alone. Your countenance of love lights the way. I very intriging vision has already formed in my mind. I too have desires for love that I seldom express. Hugs Bill
