Why are women ... so much more interesting to men, than men are to women?- Virginia Woolf

She Combed Her Hair With Music

She combed her hair with music
And washed her face in song
Her smile was the melody
A hum from dusk till dawn

Her laughter spun in harmony
Then skipped across the winds
Her blush was the crescendo
A light of tune within

Her footsteps were the walk of dance
Their echoes softly swayed
And as she passed, the men would ask
Why must her chorus fade

The use of musical metaphor coupled with the effective employment of synesthesia is quite impressive. The rhyme, meter and flow of this piece is excellent. It is a fine piece of work in every sense. I like the Virginia Woolf quote -so true.

This flows wonderfully Anita, not only in rhythm, but also in spirit. Brava!

I wonder what a small childs skipping footsteps would sound like on the open strings of a piano?

Anita, you have done it again, sweet friend -- you have such a gently soft and flowing style of writing. This is lovely! Sometimes, I think you could write about a dust mop and it would come out sounding like one of the prettiest things on the planet ... I salute your lovely talent!
Love,
CJ

What man can compare to the beauty of a woman and has there ever been a man who never said as a beautifull gal walked by, where have you been all my life.

Her footsteps were the walk of dance

A poem in the key of C major. One of the most delightful sounds for me as a father is the footsteps of my daughter coming down the hallway - the walk of dance, and when I see her smile it radiates melodic prettiness, and in turn sets of melody in my heart.

Thank you for not just a poem but for me, a devotional that one can claim and dedicate to a loved one.

Free flowing and lyrical, you capture the mystique and mystery of femininity perfectly..
