Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes.  It is not something physical....Sophia Loren

Morgue Contained

Such loveliness she once possessed
And yet she would deny
In youth she wore the comely dress
Of face from hair to eye

She did not think her image worth
The praise that she received
Embarrassed she would laugh with mirth
For she did not believe

She saw herself as so much less
When she was so much more
At glance no one would ever guess
The blindness at her core

Her bible were her magizines
Her mirror, friend and foe
She saw herself as hag and queen
Her moods from joy to woe

She made herself a shallow vow
To show a better view
Remake her face from chin to brow
Into a beauty new

But new was never quite enough
She always wanted more
Each surgery was pretty rough
Then those she chose before

Addicted the the lure of self
Driven beyond vain
Her face a treasure, beyond wealth
And now she's morgue contained

This Is Such An Evoking Poem
The very image of self acceptance so brutally crippled by inner feelings of what beauty is

I once read an article - a true story - about a woman who wanted to look like Barbie doll, and she had spent thousands and thousands of dollars, and underwent numerous surgery to transform herself into looking like Barbie. I just can't imagine the pain she has gone through each time under the knife. I would never put my beauty at the hands of another. Surgeons could make mistakes too.

Also women who went to have breast implants, but the results are disgusting. After the surgery the connecting tissue around the implants shrunk and died and all that's left to see are....well, you can really tell when one has it!!!!!

I can never understand why women would go under the knife and let another person fool around with their faces.

What a sad tragedy for the character in this poem!!! A good message to all!!! (Even the guys are having surgeries now)

What a eulogy! A morgue could contain her body, but I doubt that it could contain her image. Cool write.

Lady A,

This could be written about a neighbor of mine. She grew up picking cotton; she had wrinkles. Oh, she hated them. So, she decided to have a face lift and skin dermabrasion: she wound up with third degree burns on her face and an infection. She had a knee replacement, wasn't quite over the infection, got sepsis (poison in the bloodstream) and DIED. 52 years old. I'm thankful for every wrinkle, grey hair and imperfection I've got!!!!!! Powerfully penned sadness: too bad women will never conform to society's ideal.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Sad but beautifully written.
God Bless you and her,
