Drunkenness is temporary suicide. ~Bertrand Russell, The Conquest of Happiness WALTZING WITH THE ALBATROSS Some souls have a history of which they are ashamed Strangled by the albatross, with misery and blame Some choose to hide their bitterness, behind a laughing face Contoured to the occasion, habits become a brace The hand around the bottle, lips upon the glass Intoxication makes them mellow, problems can't harass Anything to make the hurts of yesterday passe Ease their hurts, cause others pain, forget about fairplay Food, and sex, drugs and games, gamble till your broke They do it all to excess, yet smile when they choke It all becomes a habit, a pattern, and a dance Waltzing with the Albatross, a suicide romance Anita June 25,2002 This is..... Based on years of observation..... Not a judgement on my part...... We are all our own judges from time to time... (Thats a albatross mating dance in the photo)

Its sad. Addictions are a ticket to tragedy. I deal with these types too though not so much in my family....Thank God.

So glad I done all my heavy drinking when I was young so I don't need to do it now. I bought a case of beer before Christmas but haven't gotten around to opening it yet.

I love the title. And those are good observations. Addiction is an albatros...but one can fly like an eagle when they get it together. It's a joy to see.

Dear Anita, I sure have missed you friend. I hope everything is well. Great provacative poem. Some people live a lifetime of addiction. They really never judge themselves truthfully.
