Stopping for the night, The Mandarin ducks— One drake joins with one hen. With flower seeds in their bills They feed one another While drifting on the ripples; Preening their feathers, They follow each other In single file. They play— Now hiding in the smoke, Now diving underneath The lilies and lotus flowers. By evening, they reach The sand on the bank; Every night, They enjoy a tiny space Of their merry dwelling. Never thinking of getting To the Celestial Lake, They are happily satisfied With their plain living And easy life, . . Until a certain time.

Based on the title, I'm assuming that your parents were symbolized by the Mandarin ducks. But that may not be the interpretation.
