Lonesome Heron

Amidst the mist-like mid-autumn showers
Shallow the stony rapids rush-rush;
The sprays besprinkle one another—
Up-stream and down-stream
A lonesome heron defiles at half-lights,
Bringing itself a superfluous third
Into such an idyllic environment.
