Poem Artwork

Outside the limits of the human world

There is neither calming nor excitation,

Neither order nor disarray, neither pros

Nor cons, neither care nor negligence,

Neither sitting still nor walking drill;--

Such is profound meditation or Dhyana,

The penultimate stage of yoga, in which

All the five aggregates are not in reality,

And the six senses are empty by nature.

Yes, it is neither obscure nor illuminated;

It is neither real nor false; it never abides

By the middle way, and that's it. What else,

It is never activating as it produces nothing;

Yet, dealing with the utmost liberality,

It represents the essence of Pure Mind

With its comprehension and only then abidance,

But sometimes it works inversely because

The spiral means two-way traffic, not one-way.

An emptiness that is a fullness; a center that has no periphery, a unity that absorbs all multiplicity, an absolute reality that negates all relativity. The world we live in is something else, when all the five aggregates are in reality and all the six senses are full. Interesting poem, attempting to express the inexpressible. John

When we put our mind to it there can be nothing but questions and in the end no solutions that will justify our conclusions.

The idea that, "Dhyana, the penultimate stage of yoga, in which all the five aggregates are not in reality and the six senses are empty by nature," is of little consequence to me. I prefer that all my senses are working all the time.

Future: The Spiritual Story of Humanity by Glenn Martin

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.
