Some think that in the beginning
There was absolutely nothing.
That is the extreme point,
The complete reach of knowledge,
To which nothing could be added.
There also are those who suppose
That in the beginning there first
Was existence, proceeding to consider life
To be a gradual perishing and death
A returning to the primordial state.
And there they stop, making, however,
A distinction between being and non-being.
Again, there are those who say that
In the beginning there was something,
Which b and by started to be alive, and
In a while life was succeeded by death.
But those who acknowledge that
Being and Non-being are all in hand
Of the One Creator have caught my fancy.
Why we spend so much time contemplating things like "a beginning," when it currently has been proven to be about 14 billion years away and why we think there are eternal constants like, "god," is beyond me.
We have real life problems, mostly caused by our incessant determination to procreate unhealthily without concern for the rest of the planet, that are short-term and should be focused on. Not our self-centered, narcissistic wish to spend "eternity" in some mythical place that doesn't exist except in our mind's eye.
Time to get real and not worry about what is happening billions of years from the present, but how we will conquer the serious ills we have created within the next 50 years or all of us may die, regardless of silly stupid ideologies.
