Submitted to the power of the Maiden constellation (nv),
Unlucky sign, Earth, Saturday, Saturn, Bat. . .

Because of the proximity of the Servant Maiden to the Ox-boy,
This constellation is frequently confused with that
Of the Weaving Maiden, Vega.

The astrological symbolism is connected with
The ancient custom of boys and girls
Sacrificing to this constellation, or rather
Its guardian spirits, at night of the Summer Solstice;
It was the custom to play the flute to it
To obtain wisdom, while the girls hoped
To have a good dowry, and thus obtain good husband.
Perhaps because of its connection with marriage,
The constellation was also regarded as presiding
Over the construction of houses and family hearths.

Oddly, but the modern portents are unfortunate,
Presaging disputes and quarrels among the family,
And fights troubling the peace. Epidemics and illness,
Particularly diseases of the bowels,
Will an injudiciously arranged funeral on this day.
The unlucky omens for this constellation
Are particularly surprising, bearing in mind
That the symbolism is that of the bat, which
In Chinese folklore is an emblem of good fortune.
However, it seems that at a certain level
It has been messed up with the celestial arrangements.

Speaking from the point of today’s stellar indication,
Which emerges from the ancient Book of Rites (Li ji),
It is the Danger (wei), indicates ascending high mountains,
The wind blows fiercely; there is great peril.
Be joyous and drink wine. All else is little use.
Another day when everything seems to be going wrong;
Avoid trying to get things to work when they won't;
The best course of action is to walk away from it.
The old almanac's advice is to go out and get drunk!

The First Half of the Day under the Water Element

As the Canon of Triad (Tai Xuan Jing) suggests,
At the very end of the internal cycle, which is
Water-Fire-Wood-Metal-Earth-Water (1-6),
His explicit belief returns to him as all sincerity;
His ascent at the Temple of Ancestors (present Water)
Is approved by Heaven;– he has gotten access
To the divine realms at the highest level.

The Temple of Ancestors -- the institute of men,
Spirits and gods -- is used to reunion the past
With present, the lower regions on earth
With the realms on high to possess
Indisputable authority among the kings
Insofar as it represents a pantheon
Of establishing feedback with what is considered
To be the first obligation of each new-come ruler.
Here, in the Temple of Ancestors,
The new-made ruler receives Heaven's mandate,
Obtaining the status of the sovereign,
The Son of Heaven, and the sole representative
Of Heaven on the earth indeed.

The Second Half of the Day under the Fire Element

Staying in the Yin house of Fire, he wallows in lust
And kingly brilliance, enjoying it together
With his correlated mate, whom he meets in the south
(Location of Fire; see above, Dec. 27th a.m.).
However, such a fiery alliance will bring him back
To extinguishing, which is beyond his capability to avert.
That will prevent him from going his own way
But bring him back, alas, to the primary darkness.
