No indoor plumbing, only an OUT-house,
which always did STINK!
And carrying out the "Honey-Bucket"
and Dumping - Quick as a Wink!
OH - the odor that stunk up the House -
from that modern cantankerous Trap -
Carefully un-springing that poor dead Mouse,
Watch your fingers - OUCH! SNAP!
Studyin' and Larnin' your ABC's -
if you got it Wrong,
A Wooden Ruler on the Knuckles -
if'n you Please!
Every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday -
During Lent -you had to FAST -
Oh, No! No More Tuna Fish -
Sick of it - I am AGHAST!
An Apple a Day kept the Doctor Away -
But - without it, your Innards did Recoil -
Open your Mouth … Down - Down - Down -
Poured the Castor Oil!
Clang, Clang, Clang -
Rang the Bell of the Trolley,
Took Forever to get Anywhere -
Slow speed was our tedious Folly!
And of course, way back Then,
there was no Furnace -
Stoking the Coals in the ole Potbelly -
Would often Burn Us!
When camping out, Rubbing Sticks
Together to start a Fire was Neat -
but when it didn't Work -
Wooden matches helped us to Cheat!
Ah, Yes - Those were the Days, my Friend -
We'd Sing and Dance - it would never End -
but, Modern Times did come Along -
God Bless Thermostats - they beat Long Johns!
Feelin' Low, and Melancholy?
Just go Deck your Balls -
with Boughs of Holly!
Fa-Le-La- Le-La - Le-La- Le- La-
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah …
Love the chair and the trip down that old path, memory lane. Love the chair. I recall the smelly out house especially in winter. Love the chair. And then too the pipes that froze and we had to carry water from the neighbors. Love the chair. And mouse traps and mouses period. Boy have I go a story for you. By the way, I really do like that chair.lololol thanks for the chuckles Tom, Hugs, j

Oh my,you are too funny sweetie..love that chair...LOL.. stay safe and well...Happy Easter to you TK...Hugsss,much love to you...
Rather original desk chair, huh? Very witty piece. Say, we got our first television when I was ten years old and spent more time watching the Indian in the circle and listening to that awful beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep than anything else. So much for entertainment, huh?
Glad I missed all that, mostly, though my dad told me of dealing with the coal in the basement of his childhood home...hell, I didn't even know what a basement was as living on an island if you dug down two feet you hit salt water...and as for that last paragraph, I want what you are popping or smoking...Ed & Rufuz
You brought back memories I had hoped to never have again... and here is another trick played on an unseuspecting America. Just how much television if it was still in black & white and God forbid, the remote has not yet been invented.
LOL Delightful peek into the days of yore; oh, how I wish we could go back, when people cared for one another and things didn't seem as cmplicated (or scary)! *sigghhh* Well done, TomKat!
