If you happen to add a word or two to your vocabulary - then, I have succeeded just a tad.

Had an idea - Fortune -
A whole bunch of Money!
And its variations, like:

Fortunate - Lucky -
Misfortune - Bad Luck!
Unfortunate - never having Good Luck.

Then - discovered the Root - Fort -
Had a whole bunch of words -
Here they are:

Fort - group of Military Buildings.
Fort Bragg - military reservation in N.C.
Fort Sumter National Monument - S.C.

Fortalice - small fort.
Forte (1) - something you are good at.
Forte (2) - music - played or sung Loudly!

Fortepiano - early form of a piano - 18th century.
Forte-piano - starting Loud, then suddenly Soft.
Forth - forward in time, place, degree, order.

Forthcoming - about to appear or happen.
Forthright - direct in speech or manner - Honest.
Forthwith - without delay.

Fortieth - one of forty equal parts.
Fortification - walls or ditches that strengthen defenses.
Fortified Wine - wine with strong alcohol added.
Fortify - to make something more powerful or persuasive.
Fortis - a strong consonant - like ‘p’ or ‘t’.
Fortissimo - extremely loudly - musical symbol - ff.

Fortitude - strength and endurance, under duress.
Fortnight - U.K. a 14 day period - 2 weeks.
Fortnightly - occurring every 14 days.

Fortral - Trademark for a narcotic pain reliever.
FORTRAN - earliest high-level computer program language.
Fortress - impenetrable place of protection.

Fortuitous - happening by chance - lucky accident.
Fortuity - lucky chance or accident.
Fortunate - enjoying good luck.

Fortunately - by lucky chance.
Fortune - the personification of chance - Destiny.
Fortune Cookie - Chinese cookie with paper saying baked inside.

Fortune hunter - person seeking quick riches - “Gold-Digger.’
Fortune-teller - palm or crystal ball, tea leave reader -predicter.
Forty - the number 40.

Forty winks - a short sleep - ‘cat-nap.’
Forty-Five - pistol with a .45 caliber.
Fortyish - around the age of 40.

Forty-Niner - prospector in 1849 Gold Rush in CA.
Forty-ninth parallel - U.S. Canadian Border at 49 deg. Latitude.
Fortysomething - between 40 and 49 years of age.

I built a Fort in my backyard. Comes in handy when Mean Tall Woman goes on the Warpath. And the dogs are pretty good about sneakin in supplies!

Uh... How's about, uh, Fornication - voluntary sexual intercourse.
Fornicate - generally forbidden by law???
