A New Testament Bible Story tells Of -
The Apostles Speaking in Tongues -
Pentecost, or Whitsunday, the Holy Spirit in form of Fiery Tongues
Allowed the Crowd to hear - each in his own Language.
Here in America, we speak American English.
We have Done So for about Four Hundred Years Now!
But our Stupid Government Leaders -
Thought that wasn’t Good Enough.
So, they - along with Greedy Corporations -
Decided to make Spanish - ‘ The Second Language!
Every Phone and Voice-Mail System -
Every Banking Machine - almost every ‘Point of Sale ...
Now, almost every piece of Product, or Package -
Is also Printed in Spanish!
What in God’s Holy Name is going On?
Duplicity Everywhere Must Cost More Money!
Do the Greedy Advertisers not Understand This?
Or - is the Market for Mexican Pesos More Important?
I for One - am Sick of It!
Learn OUR Language - or - Get The Hell Out!
WHAT IF - Every Other Tongue Demanded Equal Time?
Irish - French - German - Italian - Swedish - Dutch - Chinese - Korean -
Whatever ... Are THEY All ‘Second-Class Citizens?’
Stupidity and Greed - Thy Name is Government!
WHAT IF: We ALL got off our Lazy Arses -
And Bitched and Moaned and Complained -
To our ‘So-Called Representatives’ in Washington -
And in Every State House in Every State?
Who Cares if ‘Illegal Aliens’ can’t Read Labels?
I sure as Hell Don’t!
If they buy the Wrong Stuff - TOUGH!

Learned yesterday that the wealth of this whole world is owned by a mere 3% of the elite and 25 or so years ago their wealth totaled 3 trillion dollars. Today, these same power elite have a monetary worth of 300 trillion dollars. But they are still pigs none-the-less. Dante's Divine Comedy comes to mind.
Many years ago I felt the same way. But I am afraid it is too late to fix the problem overnight. The long-term solution is to offer English for Adults in our public schools and provide incentives for them to learn. The greatest incentive is more job opportunies. The other would be to learn English as a requirement for citizenship.
I love the way you express your rants, Tom. What would you "say" if you lived in Canada; we are officially a bilingual country. Moi, je parle français; mes parents étaient de France, mais je speak English 90 percent of the time. Personnally, I think that eventually English will be a universal language.
