This was sent to me by another poet in response to my poem 'Future memory'. I thought it was exceptional and worth posting. Any feedback will be forwarded to the poet. Thanks
Do you remember... the wonderment in my eyes as I watched yours open halfway and how the smile spread across my face as you sleepily mouthed a kiss onto your pillow for me to retrieve how the early morning sun spilled through the open window behind you onto the translucent sheet delicately draped from your shoulder to your thigh illuminating your every contour with the soft glow of the new-born day how you nibbled one strawberry and then another from my lips without raising your cheek off the pillow as I marveled at the glow of your sun-bathed skin and grinned in anticipation of the reluctant reopening of your sparkling turquoise eyes how you purred contentedly as I slid one arm and then the other under you how you squealed in mock resistance and then clung to my neck as I lifted you up and carried you out the doorway into the soft ocean breeze how the sheet fluttered gently and caressed your back as I walked across the beach to where the waves came coyly rolling in to playfully lick the sand how you thumped my back and gasped aloud upon seeing that I would not stop at the water's edge how the sheet streamed behind us across the surface like a mermaid's wedding veil as the deepening water reached up to kiss your lovely bottom how you splashed my face and slipped out of my arms leaving the empty sheet in my hands how my shocked expression evaporated as you resurfaced, naked, with an impish, vengeful grin and chased me to shore finally catching me under the palm trees...? and do you remember what happened next...? I remember... as if it were tomorrow...
