People pass me by each day

Some with smiles painted clear,

But others walk around in life

With no one they hold dear.

I watch and pay attention

With an open heart, I hold

Waiting to make a difference

With an attitude so bold.

People stare sometimes, no words

But what they say is clear to see.

No direction is where they're going

And no one they want to be.

But still I stand reaching out

For those who need me most of all.

Clinging tightly to my faith and hope

With dreams that I won't fall.

People pass me by each day

Different looks, some love and hate 

That's when I smile, reach out my hand

And let them know  it's not too late.

You see, I try to spread around

How lucky we are each day?

How important it is to share your heart

With others in many ways.

Then, I smile and think about

The many great friends who have blessed my life

Ones who've been there, good and bad

In happiness and stife...

It's those people who made a difference in me

And I a difference the same...

People pass by me every day

But this life is not a game.

It's about loving, giving, and being there

For everyone you see...

For if that wasn't the goal in life

This life would not be.

People pass me by and I smile

Hoping a contagion will arise

and they will smile at me the same

With a caring in their eyes.

That's when I know I've made a difference

Although I may not know them at all,

It helps me to know, I have friends who care

If I should ever fall.

So reach out to people everywhere

Spread a positive way and know

That just be such a simple act,

Paying it forward will continue to grow.
