Deep dark forests are splendid places,

Full of nature’s magnificent wonders.

And, amazingly, even today,

They still keep many ancient secrets.

Best of all,

Mystical creatures still reside deep within them.

They have lived in these deep shadowy forests,

Since time began.

These creatures, although mostly benign,

Can often startle an unsuspecting traveler.

Even extremely experienced woodsmen,

And old, curious, gray-haired dogs like me,

Who happen to stumble upon them – unexpectedly.

But the deep dark forests’ mystique, charm, and beauty,

Will continue to tantalize our intrepid hearts and souls,

And will always somehow manage to lure us back,

Yet one more day.

I fervently pray the day will never come,

When these enchanting ancient realms,

No longer are allowed to exist,

In our chaotic, far too greedy world.
