I wish for a world full of peace, not war and strife

I wish for all living creatures, a much better life

I wish we could end poverty, spousal abuse, and greed

I wish we would only strive for the things that we need

I wish we could have sympathy for each of our neighbors

I wish that decent wages were paid for all of our labors

I wish we could find homes for all of the discarded strays

I wish we could provide every child with much happier days

I wish we could laugh daily, instead of drowning in tears

I wish we could conquer each and every one of our fears

I wish we could practice understanding, not bigotry and hate

I wish we could just stop pushing, and learn how to wait

I wish we could once again love and respect Mother Earth

I wish human hearts could replace their hatred with mirth

I wish we could return to a time when justice prevailed

I wish we could return to a place where heroes were hailed

But wishing, in real life, usually doesn’t work out very well

Sitting around wishing, won’t bring heaven to our modern hell

It’s time we stood up, took action, and truly resolved to renew

Because just sitting around wishing, can make us quite blue
