Poem Artwork

Life's a dance, you learn as you go,
Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow.
Don't worry about what you don't know;
Life's a dance - you learn as you go.

                              John Michael Montgomery

My branch of the world was a very lonely place,

Until the day I first gazed upon your lovely face.

I had lost at love; I was through giving it a chance,

Yet, something in your eyes, made me want to dance.

You were perched in the middle of a large cackling crowd,

Yet, it was you, and you alone, that I spotted somehow.

The starlight seemed to twinkle very brightly in your eyes,

I couldn’t stop gazing at you – no matter how hard I tried.

I finally flitted on over, and asked you for that dance,

You cooed and you cawed, but you took that chance.

Now, we’ve been perched together quite a few years,

With scarcely a ruffled feather, and very little tears.

We’ve had good times and bad, as most nesting critters do,

But our love has proven strong, and it’s held us like glue.

We’ve traveled quite a bit, and flown off to exotic places,

We’ve grown older together, with new lines on our faces.

We’ve weathered many storms, and have comforted each other,

We still respect each other’s space, and neither of us smothers.

But I know that you sometimes think I act like a bird-brained old fool,

And you often believe my sense of humor belongs in grade school.

You also fret and flutter, whenever I bring home yet another pet,

But the love in your eyes sparkles, and you haven’t kicked me out yet.

These days, Sweet Bird of Mine, I love just hanging out with you,

Perching together on our cozy little branch, being happy – never blue.

Although we’ve gotten a tad older, and our plumage is turning gray,

I swear I can still see that starlight in your eyes – each and every day.

I know that I will always love you, and for you, I’ll always hoot,

Happy Anniversary, Sweet Sweet Bird, from your silly old coot.

We’re winging our way to the state of Utah, for our Anniversary,

In Bryce Canyon, we’ll happily explore some of nature’s mysteries.

I’ve also run across an old map detailing a lost prospector’s gold,

We’re still two very adventurous critters, even if we are gettin old.

Rebecca is truly looking forward to this much needed Spring Break,

But I haven’t told her yet – about the bats, horny toads, and snakes!

See Ya’ll on the Flip Flop

With some Fool’s Gold Stories

And Nature Shots

In keeping with its nature theme, Ed, this is worthy of the sweetest birdsong I can muster... you give the "birds of a feather" adage a whole new meaning, a lovely new meaning, indeed! What a charming and lovely nest of joy you have and have penned... it's 'eggs-actly' perfect! (smile) Enjoy your wanderings... (we used to try to catch "horny toads" out in Calif. as kids..) em.. Jaysus, Eddy, don't be bringing any bats home! You might find yourself looking for a 'rental nest'.. HA! You're a grand husband, you are! katy xox.
